The Spotlight is On: Ruby Shell
At Cien, we’re lucky to have a diverse, talented and passionate team! In this series, we meet a Cien team member to ask them what it’s like to work at an AI-first start up.
This week we meet Marketing Intern Ruby Shell.
Where are you from, and what brought you to Barcelona?
I grew up in a small town in West Texas, but moved to Austin for school and consider it my home now. I came to Barcelona on a study abroad program and have loved every minute of it since I’ve been here. It’s a big change from my life in Texas but I wouldn’t want it any other way.
Why did you join Cien?
I was drawn to the idea of working in marketing for a growing company and also wanted to build on my international work experience.
Describe your role in four words.
Connecting people and products.
What’s the best thing about your job?
The people I work with and the snacks they bring back from their trips! I’ve also come to love the environment in the office and look forward to coming to work every day.
What have you learned since you’ve joined Cien?
I’ve learned so many things since I’ve been here, but search engine optimization techniques and practices for professional social media have been significant during my time here. I’ve also come to understand the world of sales and marketing in a whole new environment, which is exciting.
In your opinion, are the developments in AI going to take our jobs?
The goal of AI is to make processes more efficient, so it’s possible. But that doesn’t mean the developments will not open up even more positions in the future.
How do you apply the Cien core values in your day to day work?
I apply the core values by practicing accuracy and efficiency in everything I do, and of course striving for daily excellence!
What is the best advice you have ever received?
You can’t grow unless you step outside of your comfort zone.
You’re welcome to get in touch with Ruby or connect on LinkedIn.
