The Spotlight is On: Mariam Nurminen

Where are you from and what brought you to Barcelona?

I was born in Yerevan, Armenia and raised in Tampere, Finland.  I was looking for a career (and life!) shift, so I decided to do my master’s degree in marketing and sales in Barcelona. I had never been to Barcelona before moving to the city but luckily I loved it- a lively, happy, inspiring and motivating city full of things to do. Kind of reminds me of Yerevan!

Why did you join Cien?

I joined Cien first and foremost because of its values and my interest to learn more about the B2B marketing and the tech industry, I was very intrigued to learn more about AI while working at Cien. I had never worked at a startup before so that was also a key factor that influenced my decision to join the team. Experiencing challenges and small daily wins would give me a different perspective. 

Describe your role in three words.

Fun, high paced and changing.

What’s the best thing about your job?

Being surrounded by intelligent colleagues from different backgrounds and countries, learning from seniors and learning a lot day by day!

What have you learned since you’ve joined Cien?

Definitely about the environment of a growing startup and working in a small team, being able to make decisions and act fast upon them and using new tools. 

In your opinion, are the developments in AI going to take our jobs?

Yes and no. Sometime in the near future, AI will replace the typical jobs however not entirely. AI will help us but not take over! 🙂 

How do you apply Cien’s core values in your day to day work?

Tackling challenges and  and attributes take a long way striving to get to #100Percent.
